Challenge 3 Results

Ugh, I'm late. Sorry about that, gals. Hopefully these aren't too late. :)

So far I haven't had to do any eliminations. You gals have been eliminating yourselves! This week we're saying goodbye to Stars, who had to drop out. :( Hopefully we will have NO MORE dropouts, and we can get started with our regularly scheduled programming. xD

First of all... here are your critiques.

Rachel: This outfit and layout are really cute. However, they're also really average and typical. You have a lot of potential but you need to take some risks! We were looking for unique ways to wear the uniform, and your outfit needed some more accessories. :)

Jazz: I'm glad you did something different! However... the outfit was a little random, in other words all the items look strange when put together. You needed some different colors to change things up! The sizing and placement of your items throws things off as well. Work on your layout gal!

Izzy: One judge said, "this is what we were looking for. unique uniforms. and stylish ones & you have both." And I agree! This is a great, unique set and I love it! The only thing that's not absolutely perfect is that the placement of the items in the bottom right corner looks a little odd when compared to the rest of the set. But totally not a big deal.

Speedy: This was a good set, but maybe not your best. I wasn't really into the layout, however one judge loved it. The outfit was very cool and different while staying in the uniform... but one thing we noticed was that it bordered on being too costumey and not all that wearable. But great set nonetheless. :)

Shannon: "The goal for this challenge was expressing your self, but staying with in uniform standards. While the set has a good idea behind it, it does not express personality, or creativity." That's what one judge had to say, and we all pretty much agreed. I also really wish the set had been better laid out. The outfit was cute but most of it was stuck in the corner!

Lizzy: You are improving by leaps and bounds, and it's only the 3rd week. I had to do a double take to make sure I hadn't gotten your set mixed up with Izzy's! xD This is really great... I think you did the best this week with understanding the challenge and making it unique. One judge wasn't into your layout but I loved how different it was. Nice job!

Dott: Gal, you're really good at making sets! The only thing that's missing from them is... personality. This set didn't really have any. You need to have more fun with your sets! This outfit was a bit boring, but we really liked the accessories.

Chloe: This had the potential to be a really cool set, but there were a couple of issues with it. I was confused about why you put those white squares in the left side... that made it shrink. Which really isn't a big deal but it would be nice if the set had been bigger. For the most part, the outfit was nice, but a wild pair of shoes would have worked better I think. The belt looks odd with everything else. Good job being original though. :)

Pugzy: I actually loved this set. It reminded me of France. xD I thought it was really original and neat. However, the other judges weren't feeling it. "I like the concept, but the outfit is a little plain," one judge said. And the blank space in the bottom right corner kinda threw the layout off. You're getting a lot better gal, keep improving. :)

Duckie: Hmm, the other two judges thought that this was too 'over the top.' I thought that it could have been more so. xD I loved the shoes and I wished that you'd gone running with that theme, because the shoes could have helped you make a really cool edgy set. But put together with the rest of your outfit, the shoes look a little odd. The layout was a little too scrunched up for my tastes.

Lemon: Is it possible for a set to be too perfect? This outfit was really nice and had a lot of thought put into it... but not a whole lot of personality. One judge said that it looked like a suit! And your layout is really well thought out as well, and I really want to like it... but I can't really see any of the items around the edges.

Bri: We were all a little surprised to see this from you! The layout and outfit were totally expected for the schoolgirl thing... we were hoping for you to do something different. The layout doesn't look like much time was put into it. The outfit is cute though, and one judge really liked your background items.

Doodle: I love your style! You always go all out with crazy colors and accessories, and your sets always express your style. I'm not really feeling the layout though. It needs more than just huge nail polishes in the corner. As one judge had to say, "You did a great job blending funky, wild and sassy, with cute average school girl and it fits in the dress code. Great job!"

Molly: This is a very unique outfit and for the most part I really like it. "The accessories are awesome (I totally want those shoes), but the skirt does not fit in very well." were one judge's thoughts. The layout looked a little random and I would have liked to see more time spent on it.

For the most part, we were disappointed with the entries this week. I'm afraid the word 'strict' threw you gals off and you thought you had to play it safe. Let me point out that here in GUPS, taking risks will always be rewarded more than playing it safe. We will recognize when you've done something unique and different... and we love it! Have fun and take risks with your challenges.

However, there were a few of you that had great sets this week. Those of you will be our top scorers. This week I've divided you gals into groups again, but they're a little messed up because of ties. See if you can guess which group is which. :D
